It's not obtuse. Gym equipment = 100's of possible exercises.
Bike= peddle fast, peddle slow

I'm fine wth being ignorant and asking questions, but being ignorant and belligerent is annoying.

Ok, I get that, but what can an instructor do besides peddle that's worth money?
I guess you could do it on your own, but the workouts are programmed to maximize what you're doing. The coaches hold you accountable and ensure that you are doing it right. I can read instructions online and try to do something by myself, but if I have someone there showing me how to do it I have a much better chance of doing it right.

Ok thanks. I just don't see it worth paying someone for. Just like I don't see any use in paying a trainer in the gym when I can find 100's of workout aps or routines online.

Well, if you're truly that confused, then I feel sad for you.

In spin classes the instructor tells you exactly what cadence and resistance to have on the bike.
I don't have to think, I just do what the instructor tells me to do and I get a really great cardio workout.
The instructors are good at maximizing your workout by having you simulate flat and hill rides.

You can get a good look at a tbone steak by sticking your head up a butchers arse, but I'd rather take the cows word for it.

Yes, but in a gym, it's filled with equipment and there are 100's of exercises the trainer can show you. What can a spinning instructor show you bedsides peddling?
Nothing...but that's not the point.
There are people are solely do spin classes at the gym and aren't interested in the other 99 exercises.
If peleton wants to market a product to those people who cares? Overpriced, probably, but I imagine there's a subset of people who would like the convenience of a spin class at home led by an instructor as if they were at the gym or the convenience to do a spin class at any time (3am or 10pm at night) that fits their schedule.
Clearly it's not a product that you would value, but that doesn't mean others wouldn't .

So you need a butchers help to find a steak?

You obviously have never taken a spin class before.
I'm glad you bike nerds have decided to stay inside instead of riding on the streets and terrorizing motorists

They got a couple at my office gym, I use them sometimes and they're pretty cool/effective. It's classes of all kinds and they have leaderboards and shite so u can see how u stack up. I Enjoy it but I have no clue what they cost.

As a man I would never take a spin class.
I do understand that it's challenging. I acknowledge that.
But so is taking a penis in the butt. I can't do that either.

I don't understand how you can't understand the concept. I could become a legal scholar by studying books and cases, but it'd take me 1/5 of the time to get the same results by going to law school. Spin classes may not be for you, but having a coach adds value. Any rational person can understand the concept. You have someone to hold you accountable so it's harder to slack off. You have someone designing workouts for you that has more knowledge on the subject so you get quicker results. It creates a group atmosphere so it seems less burdensome to do the workout. It's really not that hard man.

Bikes are 2K each...and then you pay $40 a month for access to the classes.
Or you can download the Peloton app($14.99/month) and use it on any other spin bike(your own, at the gym, etc)

I'm too focused on the hot blonde watching that commercial than the instructor.

Spin classes are pretty awesome. Hot stay at home moms and mid 20s-30s professionals and a workout that will burn a good bit of calories.

Peloton costs like $5,000, so I can understand why you struggle with the concept of how it works
