It’s really true. My neighborhood is full of Indians, Orientals, white, blacks...everyone gets along and maintains their property. But of course apartments keep getting built and it’s racist to not embrace “affordable housing”

We live in a nice, upper middle class neighborhood in a meh area of BR. We don't really have any crime here but I can certainly look at our surroundings and wonder how long that's going to last.

When you have way more people overall you will tend to see more of every race. I grew up on the NS form birth, in my mid 40's now and I don't think the white/black proportions are much more different. There is good and bad everywhere and drug problems are EVERYWHERE. I do see more latino people but most of the ones I see are busting their arse. To answer a previous poster, we don't have the jobs on the NS to make folsom/washington parish really viable yet. I do have some concern about the number of apartments but most of the ones that have gone in in the last 10 years seem to still be doing well.

West of 59 and south of 12 should be fine for the next decade or more.


After that, they can have it.

Y’all know me. I grew up in Nola and started coming to Mandeville in the 80’s when my grandfather retired to Atalin Street. He had 30 slips behind the marina. We’d take pirogues out, fish, sale, ride bikes and shoot BB guns every weekend as kids. It was great.

Im not trying to say it’s not anymore. Property value will continue to rise. But, your car was likely broken into by white crackheads.
