Pedestrian abuse of the right of way

I know you have the right of way, but the law of relativity says that my truck can only stop so fast, and since you just stepped out in front of me on such short notice, I'll do my best but I'm not making any promises.

If there is a marked crosswalk, you have the responsibility as a driver to already be going a safe speed to stop in time. Have fun with the vehicular manslaughter charge.

It's ok to hit a few pedestrians if you have a YETI sticker on your back windshield

That's actually the law of GENERAL relativity. Please edit to avoid confusion.

You see there is being right and dead and then there is being smart. I'd never risk my life and limb just because the man got me down.

I had a kid in my neighborhood riding his big wheel in the middle of the road. I had just pulled out of my driveway and he comes around the corner in the middle of the street and puts his hand up to tell me to stop while he passes. Then he stares me down like "how dare you be on my road in your giant suv". Apparently black lives don't matter much if you teach your kids it's ok to ride their big wheels in the middle of the road.

Newton's First Law of Motion is a little more specific to your post and perfectly adequate in that instance.

Get some of those giant truck nuts to help load up some weight on the rear wheels. That should help you stop a little quicker.

I always say that physics wins in these situations.
But, pedestrians don't have the right of way ALL the time. Only when it's indicated/allowed on the traffic sign/light.
