That doesn't answer my question. Did Toya's shutdown negatively affect businesses or not?

It's all good. Heard y'all seemed to have turned around there. Don't know where I would be going, but I would be ready to bolt if given the chance.

Nope.... Even worse than ever. However I'm not in operations anymore, and in the lab.... It's all gravy now..

Problem is I'm fighting getting recalled.... Would not be a good thing..

What about them?

I actually used to have a bit or respect for you, but now..... Not so much... I'll give you the benefit of the doubt that you're just fricked up, drunk, or in bed with a ho trying to be a bad arse, but that's where all the leeway I can give.

You do understand the impact a shitty failing New Orleans has on the rest of the state, or is that beyond your limited capacity?

I know a grand total of 2 people that owned businesses in New Orleans. Both have closed up shop for good. The proximity to Hard Rock collapse hurt one pretty bad and then Covid nailed the coffin. The other was a restaurant that last I heard, was not expecting to renew their lease. Both small, under 25 total employees each so neither is a notable loss to the city but it’s a sign of a very big problem. Both families are looking out of state for next chapter of life.

My anecdotal evidence and unqualified opinion doesn’t matter but these are symptoms of a really bad situation in NOLA. No new industry has any reason whatsoever to move there except maybe the Port and that’s only going to be of help to a small percentage of industry. Someone here posted a link a week ago that New Orleans was in the Top 10 of fasting growing tech sector but I have no reason to believe that’s true. I’m in IT and looked for jobs all over a South La and the options were very limited.

The schools suck, the government is corrupt, and a a huge percentage of the workforce are lazy and incompetent and quite frankly, dumb as a bag of bricks.

If tourism goes, NEw Orleans goes with it.

He sent a WARN notice to employees. That means layoffs are coming. In light of his restaurants in other cities being closed permanently, that’s concerning. And yes, closures have happened all over due to corona but New Orleans depends a great deal on tourism and doesn’t have as many large corporations employing people as other places. That you so lightly dismiss Pat O’s laying people this week and Emerils sending WARN notices is interesting. Do you not understand how that impacts their employees and the city?

You made the statement that Emeril closed his restaurants "by choice" not from necessity. That was an asinine statement.

He has permanently closed one of his restaurants out of necessity. And he has massively downsized two others.

What he ends of doing with his New Orleans properties remains to be seen. That's going to depend on how long he will not be allowed to fully open them for business.
