This.
This is worth violently rioting over.
Latoya is nailing the coffin shut on the French Quarter and the city itself.
Big thanks to all of the old established money and power players who backed Latoya. Never ever let this woman’s supporters forget who they are.

This is her go to response to business owners begging her to open the city.

My biggest question is why JBE is allowing this to continue. Nola mayors have always been allowed to do whatever they want as long as they kept the city tourism going. That Louisiana’s famous political pressure hasn’t forced her to reason is amazing to me and, honestly, the most concerning.

it truly is crazy that her entire plan is "federal bailout" with nothing close to a backup plan

Or a conceivable timetable on when exactly that happens.

It's astonishing to me how much businesses roll over. Early stages of COVID, I understand, but at this point we need to move on. Me walking around with no mask for 4 months doesn't affect the push back that is needed.
So for those non-business owners, please push back and nut the frick up.

Yay! Everything’s all better now. Droves of tourists are coming to our aquarium & libraries. Droves!

i have to imagine it's tied to the election. a coordinated effort of urban cities and the DEMs/media
i bet FOIAs will be fought to the death

JBE is doing the same thing on a state level. Keeping his foot on our necks to grab more Federal dollars. The idiot is trying to increase the state budget so he can hand out the largesse to his buddies. They are in lockstep on this.

But again, the city and state has to live on after the election. Why have JBE and others with political weight allowed it to get this far?

I seriously did book a room
we don’t drink much so this figures to be the best time to go when the drunks have no where to be
My favorite bar is the Sazerac and I’m hopeful it’s actually open.
If I find out it’s not, I’ll probably cancel the trip.

1000%
Tanking the economy is a Hail Mary to get Trump out of office and secure federal money. It’s also a constant source of attention and spotlight for these mayors.
Unfortunately they played their hand too early, the fear subsided, and they’re left flapping in the breeze. My prayer is this wakes enough people up to effect change in these cities. But the reality is 99% of people who care and saw what was coming don’t live in the cities anymore.

covid is going to lead to a worldwide economic depression
we could be reeling from this until 2030

And hyper inflation. Couple that with recession and depression and you have a recipe for disaster.

I don’t have a clue how anyone can defend the business climate in New Orleans right now as fervently as the tiger bait guy and fightintigers. Businesses in the city are struggling mightily.

I'm not even a big fan of Trump but this has been so politicized that's it's laughable at this point.

The good news about hyper inflation and loans. The money supply increases and your loans stay the same.
Also, milk costs a semester of college.

Hotels are at minimal capacity. I stayed at the Ritz a few weeks ago. The place was a ghost town. The receptionist told me they had a total of 21 rooms booked for the weekend.
