I've been around a long time, but don't speak up very often.

Unfortunately when I do, I'm usually drunk.

You do understand the impact a shitty failing New Orleans has on the rest of the state, or is that beyond your limited capacity?

So now people want to admit New Orleans carries the rest of the state on its back???

you people are hilarious

2 people that owned businesses in New Orleans. Both have closed up shop for good. The proximity to Hard Rock collapse hurt one pretty bad and then Covid nailed the coffin. The other was a restaurant that last I heard, was not expecting to renew their lease. Both small, under 25 total employees each so neither is a notable loss to the city but it’s a sign of a very big problem.

Can you name the 2 places you’re talking about?

I got no idea what is going on here. I just posted that NOLA restaurants and bars are bad, but not near as bad as some are making it.

The FQ is getting particularly hard, but they live and die by tourism. A lot of those restaurants will rebound or return as something different.

Won't deny we are losing some institutions, but that has been an ongoing problem. Would Mae's and Mimi's still be open without covid? Who knows.

Also know there are several new restaurants opening. Probably can think of more opening than that have announced permanent closures.

You made the statement that Emeril closed his restaurants "by choice" not from necessity. That was an asinine statement.

He did. He’s kept his restaurants closed 100% by choice. He could have opened up at 25% or 50% if he wanted to. Just like Peche and the others.

No, Einstein, it means the rest of the state will have to subsidize New Orleans even more with our tax dollars.

hey dude. i hate what she has done and what she is doing. but to say the city is dying or dead is a complete lie. plenty of ppl here every weekend despite her dumb choices as mayor

Tell that to my business friends down there. The ones open are hanging by a thread, and they have been in business for decades. The bars are pretty much done.

Hotels are at minimal capacity. I stayed at the Ritz a few weeks ago. The place was a ghost town. The receptionist told me they had a total of 21 rooms booked for the weekend.

Destroya is evil and destroying the very lives that have made New Orleans great.

It’s ridiculous how much the rest of the state hates New Orleans but has no idea that the only reason Louisiana is relevant economically is because of New Orleans and the surrounding cities.

nola was in a good spot and I was hopeful. But not anymore. My heart goes out to the businesses, employees, and owners’ dreams. The entrepreneurs are getting screwed.

Which is why so many are concerned with tourism institutions closing and small businesses failing.

Those who argue they will simply be replaced ignore that the institutions aren’t easily replaced and small businesses failing means that local residents are being financially ruined. To say, Next Up, is disgusting is short-sighted.

I could but I’m not. I don’t have their permission to do so. I have more respect for them than you obviously do for your friends and associates.
