Another lawsuit filed today

And...
LINK
quote:
The lawsuit, filed Thursday in Orleans Parish Civil District Court, goes beyond two previous suits by spelling out allegations against the developer – Kailas Companies – with specific claims about shoddy design and construction.
quote:
In particular, the suit alleges:
-- “Delays, design changes, and shortcuts created extra challenges to the project.”
-- The building “had no steel frame on (the) outside and no cross bracing” and on the upper floors of the 18-story structure, there were insufficient “horizontal beams, fill beams and pole jacks” to support the structure.
-- “In other cost-cutting measures, unskilled and under-supervised labor was used on the site.”
And...
quote:
Also Thursday, in a previously filed lawsuit on behalf of three workers, attorneys submitted a motion for the developers, contractors, architects and engineers to preserve all evidence connected to the project.

Less than normal strength / normal stress.
Doesn't sound like you work on structures.

It sounds like you don’t do failure analysis for a living.
it holds true for anything. Normal construction / strength and a excess load, it fails
Less than normal strength / normal load, it fails
Doesn't matter if its a structure or piping.

“Several days prior to the collapse of the building, workers noticed support beams bowing and failing, however construction proceeded apace with no immediate stop in work or change in plans,” the suit states.
The plaintiffs also state that the “decking materials and supports were too thin, and there was no expansion iron.”
“Before the building collapse, several inch dips began appearing in concrete decking on the upper floors, indicating either that the concrete had no adequately cured, the building lacked structural support, or both.”

That photo is misleading.
See that pile of rubble behind the drawn lines, no need to mislead .

As bad as the lost of life was for the families that lost loved ones, I can’t help but think of the number of lives that would have been lost had it been completed and collapsed.
A hotel at max capacity during Mardi Gras, Super Bowl, or any of the Festivals that are held in NOLA.
Prayers for the families of the lost ones.

shite if this thing came down a day or two before or after during the week and 50-100 workers get killed
Sounds harsh but it’s a miracle it happened when it did and only 3 died

Is anyone still hanging their hat on the dumpster drop, improper beam loading on the side of the building, or pool theory?
I’m all in on shitty design and construction.

maybe a dumb question but could they not attach the cabling attached to the cranes to something on the roof to steer the direction of the crane collapse when it’s demo’d.
Posted on 10/17/19 at 7:35 pm to eitek1
Are they blowing the whole thing up or just the cranes?

I see what looks like a flashlight on it right now?

They could bring in crane mats to protect the road from the hoss picker. I wonder what the possibility of attaching the crane and start cutting smaller pieces off of it like cutting down a tree from the top.
Where is birdseed!

No crane company wants to touch it.

Attach a tower crane to the roof of a building that has already partially collapsed?
Yeah. I can see that.
