Planning a European trip, wanted to get OTs opinion on what destination should be first, and possibly only stop. Also, what are some cool things to do besides the obvious (Eiffel Tower, Collisseum, Big Ben). Opinions on people, food, etc.. Thanks.

If I was just going to go to one place, out of those 3, it would be Paris just for the food

london to paris to rome
it's cheaper to fly to Heathrow in London. From there you can easyjet or take the train to the other destinations.

Paris destroys the other two IMO.

1. Paris
2. Rome
3. London
If I were doing all three in the same trip
London - Paris - Rome

London - the people are unbelievably friendly.

All depends on what you want to do? Geared more towards dining, shopping and relaxing or history and sight seeing?
Any of the three has more history to absorb in a week. Food will be better in Paris and Rome, but bars will be better in London.
In Paris, yes you have the Notre Dame, Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, etc but my two favorites were Musee de l'Armee Invalides ( LINK) and Palace at Versailles.
Musee de l'Armee Invalides has Napoleons tomb and an unreal military museum even my wife enjoyed (and she is not into that stuff at all). Lois the XIV built Hotel Invalide as a place for invalid soldiers who needed a place to live after the war, but also built it as a shrine to himself. I could have spent two days there.
Versailles is is amazing. The sheer size of it alone had me in awe.
I absolutely LOVE Paris and found the people to be just as friendly and helpful as anywhere else.

Combination of both I would prefer the history my wife the other. I was wondering if a day trip to Versailles was worth it.

Paris is better than Rome which is better than London.

You can do the Colosseum, Trevi Fountain, Spanish Stairs, and Vatican Museum in one day
Rome is fricking insane though. I would not want to spend 2 weeks there getting shoved by rude sweaty Italians and dodging the Vespa maniacs

I think it is, but also beware. When we went last time in May, things (Catacombs - another cool place in Paris) don't usually open till 10 am and it doesn't get dark until like 10 pm at night. if you spend the day sightseeing, we rarely found enough energy to go out at night and be worth anything the next morning. I would definitely plan it in to your schedule. Things like Versailles are a full day for sure, so keep the night before open.

Romes history intrigues me but Paris culture/food and historical sites may win out.

I lived in northern England for about 6 months while I attended a University there.
I loved England, the people are great, if you like beer and going to pubs, I recommend London almost on just that.
Obviously there are plenty of tourist attractions, but I went to Paris and Rome while I was there and while I enjoyed them both, i still recommend London.
I find French and Italian people can be a bit rude (very much a stereotype here). Rome has the coolest history if you are into that (Vatican City, the Coliseum, etc...).
Let me know if you have any specific questions about any city, I spent a good bit of time in each city.
