Sorry Bro. Whether you eat his arse or take his phone, some limits need to be set.

5 seconds later his arse would be whipped with a quickness.
What did you do?

My old man was threatening to beat my arse and I told him I’d call the cops. He handed me the phone and said “better tell them to hurry”
You ever been whipped with one of those wide belts that have the name engraved in them like the old men wear? Wouldn’t recommend it

Guess I need to seek professional help, not sure I want to beat his arse when I'm about all he has.
But don't listen to these fools who think beating your son is going to fix things. Sure, it may make him not challenge you, but it will also 100% break him going forward, and he'll think fighting is the answer to his problems at school.

Sounds like he doesn't respect you. That's your fault.

if my son would have said "then we will fight" I can honestly say I would have beat his arse. My husband would have had round 2

Stay calm but beat his arse!!!

I've had five calls from the school this year and one certified letter. (6th grade). Acting up, disrespecting teachers, fighting, standing on the lunch table. etc etc etc
Standing on the lunch table? WTF.

2 yr olds get easier and fun
it basically gets easier and easier every year. I'm not sure when the turning point is on that, but it'll probably reverse course at some point in a couple or a few years and start getting more difficult, like in the OP's example.

And harkening back to another or maybe the same OT thread from a few weeks ago, they absolutely become easier and easier to reason with as the years go by. Obviously you can't reason with them on everything all the time but it's not like a 2 year old where you have no shot at all.
I'm just waiting for it to swing in the other direction in the teenage years or even sooner where all that easier and easier stuff goes right out the window.

Definitely. No sense in rewarding that kind of behavior.

I don’t really comment on OT threads, but I will here. You’re going to get downvotes, but you aren’t wrong.
Between shite actually at schools, no more payphones, and at least in our school district, teachers putting more stuff for further instruction and school work in apps, we got our 6th grader a phone about a month ago.
Now, it’s set up in a way where my wife gets notifications on her phone for certain things with her’s, and it’s taken from her every couple nights to go through it to try and keep track of what she’s doing. However, it just seems like around that age, these kids actually need some form of mobile communication.
It sucks. I worry about all the crap it can potentially bring, but it became a necessary evil.
