Parents should read ‘Why Gary, Why?” By Jody Plauche

I read ‘‘Why Gary, Why” in 2 days, but I’ll never forget it. I could not stop reading even when I wanted to. This new book should become sexual education literature about a difficult, important topic - child sex abuse.
Jody, your statement that people aren’t defined, limited, or broken by bad things that happen is inspiring and important. Well done, this is a good book.

Jody was molested and kidnapped by his karate instructor. He was found out west ... AZ or CA, maybe. Once the guy was transferred back to LA, Gary Plauche was waiting at the airport and shot him in the head.

Jody was sexually abused and kidnapped by his karate teacher- a man who he, his family, and their community trusted. Jody was missing for 10 days. He was taken from Louisiana to California before his captor was arrested.
Jody’s father shot and killed the rapist as he was escorted in handcuffs through the airport in Baton Rouge. This occurred in the 80’s when Jody was 10-12 years old; his return home and the shooting was broadcasted around the world.

Will never forget watching that assassination on WBRZ Ch 2. Always felt like Mr. Plauche was a little too “left alone” by BR Sheriffs Dept.
Someone on the inside knew what was going to go down, and didn’t search Plauche or keep him at a secured distance away from the rapist while he was being led through the airport
