Parents Of Teenagers: Do You Track Your Teenager's Cell Phone?

The other day I was around someone who was talking about her son and she said something like "let me see where he is" so she looks at her phone and says where he is at and she was like "I wonder why he went through the neighborhoods to get home instead of staying on the highway?"
I asked her "do you really track your son's phone?" and she was like "yes I do and my husband's. I told her "frick that! If I was your kid I would have burner phones". She gave me a dirty look and evidently she didn't take to kindly to me making a comment about her tracking her son and husband.
How common is this with parents who have teenagers? And if it's common, I am glad I am not a teenager in today's world.

no one believes your made-up reasons for starting these threads
just ask the question, stop making it a novel

If the kid can afford to pay for burner phones, he doesn't really need a phone from mom now does he?

I don’t track their every move but if they say their going to someone’s house I just check for safety reasons.

No teenager is going to pay for a burner phone. The parent is fine to keep up with their child.

Best believe I'll be tracking them. I actually care about their souls.

Yes. I track my sons phone with the Find Friends app.
Comes in handy especially during Mardi Gras when he’s galavanting all over Uptown.

No I don’t track their cell phones but if I could’ve got a GPS tracking device implanted in them I would’ve done that

You can buy one for $10 at walmart. If you are going spend a night at a friend's house and yall plan on going somewhere your mom wouldn't allow you to go, then you can just leave your phone at friend's house then take burner phone with you.

You're ignorant
Clearly me having a different philosophy on tracking your teenager's cell phone makes me ignorant.

The mother of my Son’s friend informed me that she does this. The other night while watching them play football I made a remark about them really being where they say that they are. She replied quickly that she “knows where her son is at at all times because I track his phone”. Apparently if he moves, she knows.

Chris none of that happened
Plus no one needs to track you. You aren’t going anywhere. It would be pretty tough for someone to lose you.

I would just leave my phone with my friend in a wheelchair, cuase they never go anywhere or do anything.
then just pick it up and go home
where were you all night
hangin out with wheels, I feel sorry for him nobody likes him.
then why do you hang out with him,
well i feel sorry for him plus he has a monkey
BUt that would never happen cause i would never hang out with a cripple

Mine is 12 and doesn't have a cell phone. I'm not sure when she'll get one but I won't track her. If she isn't trustworthy than we will have bigger issues.

No. I track my cell phone that I allow him to use.
