Give them a chance to pursue their dream or goal to the extent it fits your budget. Once they get to high school the game will tell them if they are good enough or not. As long as they are busting their arse to be the best they can be and keeping up with academics the structure of atheletics is very good for kids. Baseball is on the low end of cost conpared to dance, cheer, volleyball, soccer, lacrosse
exactly, but this is what people dont understand. they say things about going pro and bullshite like that, not understanding it has nothing to do with that. It has to do with giving them a chance to make their HS team which at some schools, especially at the big schools, is extremely difficult now a days.
then people say stupid shite like the DR kids do it for 50 a year....no they dont, they sign with mlb academies where they live starting at 10-11 and they agree to forfeit 10-20% of their future earnings to the academy...so the ones that do make it are paying millions.
this is a perfect example of what the big schools are producing in some states. Now this is a record type class but trinity christian is similar in stature to some of the big schools in houston, dfw, southern cali, other parts of florida, half dozen or so schools in LA etc
but look at the number of kids that signed and they had a pitcher get drafted 2nd round in the draft that just graduated
now most of the high schools arent producing this, but they are producing 1-2 P4 commits a year and 1-2 more D1 and then ~5 juco or d3 kids per year.
so how is a pure LL kid supposed to make that type of team and compete getting roughly 3-400 less practices from 10-14 and playing roughly 200 less games over that 5 year period? thats not to mention the extra training those kids are doing outside of team practice
again poster here need to understand something
1) its not your money, stop worrying about how others spend theirs
2) its not about pro or college, its about giving your kid a chance to pursue their dreams and about giving them the ability to make the HS team should they choose to do so.

And 99,9% of those kids have no chance to make it to the majors
I would think 90% of all college and MLB players have played travel ball so all the money their parents paid weren't a waste for them.

So $500 bucks for a piece of shite?

Regardless of how they choose to frame it, their son’s baseball is a hobby for the whole family. They enjoy the travel. If they choose to spend their money in that way, I am okay with it.

Probably 90% of all college athletes competed in their sport's version of travel ball. I most of the sports you have to compete with a club team to get good coaching for your kids. Good coaching is undervalued here. A somewhat talented kid can get pretty far with great coaching and a great work ethic. They aren't going to be on a top DI team or go pro or elite at anything, but if we as parents can afford it, that driven kid deserves the change to go as far as they can. This is the case for probably the majority of college athletes across the board. They aren't going to ever be a pro at anything.

seems like the nutritionist for her son is a wise investment.
Probably not if he's sneaking his mom's stash of hostess cakes, Oreos, Doritos, and Diet Coke.

Yeah, all those black kids parents in Alief can afford it, I'm sure. The world is not all Bridgeland and the Woodlands.

Nope. They’ll eventually go “dead” but that’s a while
