We cooked meals that everyone liked. To each his own I guess.

I’d let him go to sleep but he can go to sleep hungry.

That is a stupid opinion. If he is not eating it, it probably sucks. Maybe you should have married a woman that knows how to cook.

Great job passing your stupidity to the next generation of uneducated whites.

What kind of shite vacation are you people willing to have just to prove a point? All that does is make OP miserable on his own vacation.

My dad would make us sit at the table all evening until it was time to go to bed. We didn't necessarily have to eat the canned peas and cream corn but we weren't getting anything else that night and it was straight to the bath and then to bed.
I think about that when I'm trying to get my kids to eat certain foods. I usually make them try something but I don't make them eat all of it. Not everybody digs the same stuff.

I'm 44 and the things that my dad tried
to make me eat when I was younger with the same tactics. Plus occasionally whipping my arse. I still don't eat. Some people just don't like shite. But looking back it was the not obeying that was his biggest problem and I understand that now.

Shrimp and corn soup is gross.

I'd sit there all night too...until you're not watching and I'd chunk it down the disposal.

Off to bed with a bag of cookies.

Yep. I was forced to sit at the table for hours when I didn’t want the well done steak I could barely chew or something, and even at nearly 30, I still don’t think that was the right way to handle it. Rather than look back on nightly dinner at the table as a fond memory, I only remember how negative of an experience dinner was as a whole (there was always a high chance of a parent being in a bad mood).

Today, I never go over for dinner. Largely due to all of the above.

I used to force my oldest to clear her plate when she was younger but that just made her hate those foods. She won't eat eggs or grits to this day because I tried to make her eat them 15 years ago.
my parents did this with me because I was the oldest, forced me to eat green beans. I simply refuse to eat them to this day.

Should’ve disciplined the little shite head well before he was 9 years old and clearly more of a man than his father.

So we are in Tennessee for the week. My boy, 9 years old, has been a real pain in the arse all week-bad behavior, attitude problem, etc. The wife made a shrimp and corn soup for dinner. He refuses to eat it. I told him he couldn’t leave the table until the bowl was empty. No reheating. It is now a test of wills. Anyone else take this experience this with their kids?
Just send him on his way and tell him he won't get no food until next meal time. NO snacks, etc.
