Parasite found in cats linked to mental illness development in owners

If I really wanted to try I could write a finding that would link oxygen to the development of mental illnesses. That's how little is known about what causes them.

Sadly people will read headlines like this and fly off the handle on cat ownership. Classic fallacy of thinking correlation equals causation.
The last paragraph acknowledges this but I'm sure it'll be glossed over by most readers. T gondii isn't as common in the US as some parts of Europe. We are estimated to have ~1% of cats infected. Also keep in mind that cats kept strictly indoors are much less likely to encounter it.

Yeah it looks like it's just from contact with mice so I'd expect indoor cats to not come in contact with the parasite as often

Here's a question we've all wondered but probably never asked (I know I've never asked it until now):
Why are cats called "pussy" cats? Why do people think its okay to say, "Here, pussy pussy. Here, pussy pussy," yet they get upset when you call someone a pussy?
Why are cats named after the female vagina? Or, if cats were called pussy first...why is a female's vagina named about a cat?

I think that's unique to the US. In Spanish-speaking countries the term is "conejo" (rabbit) or "concha" (shell).
