Pandemic worsens: do you leave your home for a funeral?

Contagion sets in. Risk of the virus passing to you in the open around other people worsens. A close relative passes away, or a close friend. Morbid thoughts, for sure. Maybe it's your own sibling.
You don't have a mask for protection. Do you risk getting out with others to attend, maybe as a casket bearer or to eulogize the deceased? Or do you stay in to protect your immediate family?
Tough to think about those kinds of choices.

If it gets to that point, so many people will likely be dying that the formal burial process will be replaced with something more efficient. You’ll have much bigger things to worry about than going to a funeral

Most funeral homes aren’t allowing visitations or services. Cremation or straight graveside burials with immediate families only is what I’m seeing.

I didn’t go to my grandmothers funeral in NOLA over a week ago.

At the graveside services, there is plenty of room for the family to spread out.
Also signing the online condolences book is really appreciated by the family. Make use of the online resources. Funerals with no one there are a real bummer for the family but do what you can.

My Wife's mom died last week. Here burial was last Saturday. We did not go.

Most funerals are limited to ten people right now. I bet many funeral parlors are setting up video so others can attend virtually.
