Have an old Kenmore 400 that I changed the fuse on about a year ago when the drum stopped turning and that worked.
Now it stopped hearing the air. I got the repair kit from blue star on amazon which is the thermostat kit and the fuse.
Went ahead and swapped the fuse, turned it on to see and it started heating right away. Turned it off, waited a few and turned it on again... no more heat.

Is the thermostat going out?

Update: changed thermostat too... still cold

Seems to be 2 other thermostats, guess I’ll order those frickers too.

Why didn't you just replace everything in the kit?

I did... forgot to say I replaced the thermostat.

Actually replaced both a year ago now that I’m thinking about it. Just finished replacing it with the new one and still no heat.

I went through several fuses before the heating element finally gave out. It had a bad spot and kept overheating. I replaced the element d it’s been fine since.

I wish I had fixed mine instead of buying another. I needed to work on both my washer and my dryer and decided since both were about 20 years old I would just replace them.

Mistake.

Not so much with the dryer but the washer sucks.

I bought the OT favorite--the Speed Queen. The company changed their washing machines in 2018 and although they are well built they do not get my clothes as clean as my old machine. They say they are built for 25 years and that is bad news for me--I am going to have listen to the family complain about that washer for 25 years!!!

My advice to all--particularly on washers--fix them till they rust completely out then find another old one and fix it!

I may have missed the part where you said you checked/replaced the heating element. Sounds like you did everything else.

That would be the thing I'd check next.

If you know how to use a multimeter and can read a wiring diagram, it isn't all that hard what to do.

But if you don't know, either, leave it alone.
