Paging Broke - turning a timepiece backwards

I have always been told not to turn a watch backwards when setting it.
Is this true?
For instance, with a Rolex no date. No complications, just the watch.
What about a simple date watch like an Omega Speedmaster?
Finally what about a digital watch like an Iwatch?

It’s not a good practice with an automatic movement.

not true.
do not move the movement anticlockwise between 10pm and 2am if there is a date or day complication. the incidence of disregulation of the movement is increased. otherwise its fine

Subtle I have a really scratched up watch brag noted.

Such a sassy little wrist strap. Tell us about that little conversation piece while I order us some Appletinis and chocolate martinis.

what kind of shitty life do you have where you've received watch adjustment advice multiple times?

Some of us don’t roll hard with the Swatch bro. Gotta worry about the finer things.

Assuming you don’t frick up any complications, it’s less than ideal because of the unusual wear patterns it could cause, but it’s not all that important. I always turn it forward to set, but if I accidentally overshoot my intended time by ten minutes, I’m just turning it counter clockwise instead of going around the dial twice.

Nice try
OP, as someone else stated I set mine clockwise, unless I accidentally go over like 10 minutes or so, in that case I’ll go counterclockwise. I’ve read that it’s both okay and not necessarily good, so I tend to be safer.

Time is the most overrated concept since we discovered the planet is round. Live by the light and the dark.
