The officer didn't stop this "crime" from being commited, and it wasn't like the guy was in a hurry to commit it. So arrest the guy and maintain some composure that should be the norm for a person in a position of power. The tackle did nothing to help the situation.
It also seems like "deserve" is an overused word in these types of discussions. Should he be surprised that poor decisions led to a poor outcome? Of course not. Just like people who smoked for ears and got lung cancer should not be surprised. But they don't "deserve" it. Just because an action makes an outcome more likely doesn't mean someone deserves it, especially when it is disproportionately worse than the action itself.

I particularly enjoy how the guy's arms are flailing hilariously while he's being taken down.

If this is all it takes to escalate an officers emotions to a point of attacking an individual (even if e is an idiot) than that officer does not have, in my opinion, the emotional capability to serve in a position of power.

Yeah I get the comments related to the rivalry. In fact, it's nice to not see the SEC "glory sharing mentality." You're actually treating a rivalry like one.
My comments are related to the actual crime and punishment discussion from earlier.
