You've pretty much covered it here.

A lot of people I know who actually live in Savannah think its overrated. Still one of my favorite places to visit.

Lafayette that they can just show up to random house and have Nanny whip up a crawfish étouffée for dinner

That's just as likely to get your arse kicked by a roided up dude with a squatted truck.

Lafayette has some other stereotypes too.

Savannah has a lot of charm, but it has most of the drawbacks inherent to being a relatively small city (150k or so) with many of the drawbacks common in much larger cities (crime, blight, etc). It’s a fun town to visit but I agree that it’s an overrated town to live in.

Lake Charles has never, ever, ever been overrated.

If you like Vidor, TX - or Bogalusa, LA - you're gonna love LC

Atlanta was a pretty cool Southern city back in the mid 70s to mid 80s. I don't even think of it as a Southern city now. So many people have moved here and it's gotten so big, it doesn't seem like a Southern city any more, just a massive beehive of cars moving continuously.

It's not Ben Matlock's Atlanta anymore, that's for sure.

Being raised in Lafayette and having been gone for two decades, that’s the issue. I know people in Lafayette who swear that their festivals and restaurants are basically the equivalent of New Orleans, and that’s just funny to me

New Orleans has much better restaurants, Lafayette has much better demographics
