The heating element in my oven is not working. I am not sure yet if it is the element itself or the control board. I think I want to try and replace the element so long as I find a place to buy it that will allow me to return it if the element is not the problem. Where in the Baton Rouge area can I buy Frigidaire products? Just want to try the heating element for now, if that doesn't work I will try replacing the control board. I don't want to order from Amazon because I would have to eat the cost of the return. I was thinking Sears but thought someone on here might have experience with this and could tell me where to look before I go on a wild goose chase.

Most online appliance parts company offer a no hassle, free return policy and their price point is considerably less than purchasing part locally.

Just a thought.

Do you own a multimeter? If not go to Harbor Freight and buy one for $5. Youtube how to use it and you'll know if the element is bad or good.

Yeah, I don't know if I'd trust a $5 multi-meter. I mean, it will probably tell you if there is electricity there or if there isn't, but I don't think I trust it for any accuracy.

There's a website that has good info about appliance troubleshooting and also sells parts. I think it's repairclinic.com

Just replace the element. Not expensive and if the oven is old then I bet thats the problem.

Unless its a gas oven...then the problem is not the element...

Yeah... that's it: Repair Clinic

Enter your model number, pick the problem, and it goes into troubleshooting steps.

Yes, they do make ovens.

My only concern about it not being the element is that wouldn't there be somewhere it burned or something? It looks perfectly intact. Elements are cheap though and that's why I want to try that first, especially if I can return it easily should it not be the issue. I am hoping it is so it can be 1 and done.

Ours started doing the same thing two weeks ago. It's a 6 year old fridgedaire professional oven. I would replace but it matches every other appliance including fridge. We ordered a new part on Amazon and hope it fixes the problem the Mr Honey Doo guy thinks it is. Been hard without an oven for two weeks. Will report back. Don't use Gorman.

Harbor Freight has coupons giving them out for free. I get them in the mail all the time. I keep one in every vehicle and toolbox.

They aren't as accurate as a fluke, but I'm not a electrician either.

Used repair clinic to order a new baking element. They have a really good return policy so if it turns out to be the control board then we will just order that and return the element. Hopefully we get it right on the first try. Thanks for the help, guys!
