No I didn’t. I specifically said it’s okay to look at it from 2 sides.

The people melting over the giraffe being killed should know it’s okay to see the entire village being fed with a ton of meat and breeder bulls being safe from the a-hole older bull.

Just like it’s okay for you to see that people going on these trophy hunts are doing it for themselves, not for conservation.

Having either side admit these doesn’t change anything about the facts and it doesn’t make me emotional to point these out.

I really feel like this is a rational argument so I don’t get why you’re being like this.

These hunts attract people needing ego boosts. Those are douchey reasons.

I feel the same way about people who buy sports cars or put modified exhausts on a truck.

You started off with "you don't kill animals for sport", and now you say you were jealous?

Do you want an "atta boy"?

Unless you need to hunt to survive (i.e., subsistence hunting), you are a sport hunter. I would venture to say that 99% of hunters in North America are sport hunters.

"hunt to survive" can be interpreted differently from person to person. I could interpret that as I hunt to provide meat/food for my family. Can I go buy meat at the store for the same purpose? Sure. But I choose to provide by hunting. If you want to call that sport hunting, go for it.

Except ol broad gets her rocks off doing it

Look, do I care about the animal? Honestly I don’t

I just think these big game hunters have a weird character flaw. No biggie

My uncle does this. He had a room of all kinds of shite. He thinks he is cooler than teddy Roosevelt for it too. I have seen a video of one of his “hunts”

Ride on a Jeep, find a herd, African guide sets up tripod, he gets out and sets up scoped rifle, and shoots animal

It’s just a weird thing to be “proud of” and find enjoyable to me.

But I’m sure I do shite that others find weird so whatever

If questioning how you came to your generalization is emotional, maybe.

So spending your money can only be done to stroke your ego?

You absolutely did.

No one has said differently. That doesn't make them douches though.

That's not why I called your argument emotional.

The pace of the giraffe is an amble, though when pursued it can run extremely fast, up to 55 km/h.

How many giraffe have you pursued? All the ones I've seen just casually walk like a cow.

I'd guess most of these people choose this way of spending their money because of a desire to both hunt and kill an exotic animal and for conservationist reasons. It'd be an odd choice of leisure/sport with zero interest in that aspect.

Then you really need to read a dictionary because I haven’t had an emotional post in this thread.

I have absolutely nothing against hunting if it is for putting meat on the table------anybody's table. But to hunt just for the rack on moose or other antlered animals, or just for the hide of bears and such-----hell no.

And I truly don't understand killing an animal like a giraffe. They are herbivores and if any of them have harmed humans, I feel like they probably deserved it in some way by messing with the animal in the first place.

These hunts are typically used to get rid of a single animal that is a nuisance. Like this particular giraffe was attacking other giraffes, or disturbing local villages. I wouldn’t care to ever hunt a giraffe, but if the local village was going to kill it anyway, why not make someone pay them 50k to do it?

I agree, but, it is difficult for any government to regulate and police a situation like this one to ensure the propriety of the hunt and the justification for the hunt. It's too easy for government corruption to mess up the process.

I don't believe in redundancy. I stand by my statement. I guess everyone everywhere that spends their money on anything for fun is stroking their ego.
