OTers of Central: what’s the story of the unmarked cop car on Sullivan?

I was running some errands in Central earlier this week, and in the span of about an hour I saw this unmarked car turn his lights on, pull out of a parking lot, and pull somebody over three separate times. Is this man trying to set a record for most tickets written in a month? I don’t condone speeding, but that just seems a little excessive. I know Central has a history of fatal car accidents, but I don’t think they’re happening by the Walmart on a weekday afternoon. I have the utmost respect for law enforcement, but ticket-writers just ain’t it. Anyway, I’ll hang up and listen. Drive safe and obey all traffic laws!

If you're not running drugs, how does one find an hours worth of errands in Central?

Saw BRPD near there yesterday. Well, actually a few miles away, on Greenwell Springs east of Joor. Near where old Winn Dixie and Taco Bell were. Anyway, BRPD had his unit parked on the side (old Jay's BBQ IIRC), and he was standing in the grassy median holding what looked like binoculars up to his eyes.

Not sure if it were a new kind of radar or maybe he was looking for expired brake tags. Either way, it had all the hallmarks of a typical "collect and serve" operation.

Idk man. The entire BR area needs more of a police presence to enforce better driving. People drive like maniacs at all hours of the day/night now. The reckless driving is out of control because of a lack of police presence on the roads.

I drive the thruway every day and the speed limit is 55. I personally think it is a little slow for that road, but that's what it is. I do 59-60 and people blow by me like I am parked

If you drove in the ‘80s and ‘90s, you’d remember when traffic enforcement was actually a thing. Compared to back then, today’s enforcement is practically nonexistent. That’s why you’ve got a hundred Altimas and Sentras with expired Texas plates or sketchy temp tags flying through intersections, tailgating, passing on the shoulder, and treating the roads like their personal demolition derby. And if you’re lucky enough to pull up next to one at a red light with your windows down, congratulations, you're stoned.

As a law-abiding driver, I couldn’t care less if there were ten unmarked units running traffic enforcement at every intersection. In fact, I’d welcome it.

They don't have shite for roads. It takes awhile to get anywhere.

Same - people drive on it like it's the interstate. I made the mistake of getting on it after the freeze before the police closed it. It was late morning and sunny and I figured it would have been mostly thawed by then - wrong. There were solid sheets of ice in several places. There's not a lot of places to turn around so I just decided to take it easy around 25, which I was still nervous doing, but I had multiple people pulling out from behind me and passing. just to drive up a little ways and get all bunched up nose to tail with other people like it was a normal conditions. I thought for sure I would witness someone wreck - apparently I just missed it because they closed it down to traffic not long after that.

Probably has a quota and it's the last day of the month.

If he were smart he'd have knocked it out the first few days.

That jackass likes to point his searchlight directly into people's cars at night. There have been a ton of complaints about that because it pretty much blinds you. Guess they fell on deaf ears.

I mean, were they speeding? If so I don't care how many he pulled over.
