5. Get to know hotel owners mostly Patels and if is a low end place show them low end options. High end place show them those options.

Back when I was in sales, I could always walk into a Budget Inn, Microtel Inn, Super 8, etc. type hotel and ask to speak with Mr. Patel.

Sure enough, he'd coming walking out.

Multi family will get you lower margins, I'll grant you that - but a great partnership with the right person or group, you can count on 4,5,6 or more units a month because of turn. I sell and project manage in the multifamily sector and it's been terrific to me. I have 9 flooring contractors vying for 3 huge rehabs as we speak, each being in the 400k-800k range.

If you're looking for new const., I'd suggest driving the area and stopping at every house you see coming up to try and catch the gc.

Also, cross sell. Meaning, hit the kitchen, plumbing, electrical showrooms and visit with the manager. Get them to add you to their vendor portfolio and you add them to yours.

Also, know your compitition backwards and frontwards. Know what your sq ft price compared to theirs. And is that price apples to apples or is your ancillary products better?

If you're in BR, you should be making appointments by the truck load right now.

Many great ideas that I'd say but I'll try and add to give you more options.

Usually places like a Floor and Decor allow a cork board with business cards for local installers.
Try and get in with places like ProSource and such.
Get tight with guys that do cabinets and countertops but have a need for flooring.

As will cover said, never make it about you. Put everyone else first and more will come to you that way. Let some of those folks you talk to know that you are running across people with a need for _______ (whatever X Company offers) and if you can get a card from them to refer clients it would be a big help. That's an easy in and you develop the partnership from there.

There is very high likelihood that a Patel owns a smaller crappier "brand" name hotel.

Simply put, it's a numbers game. Tell anybody and everybody you meet what you do. When you sell a job, go three doors in each direction and tell them you'll be doing work in the area. Lastly pick up a phone and call people
Also go to homebuilders lumber yards etc and ask them for referrals
