It was my first half marathon and did 1:42

Had no idea what to expect so I coasted the first leg. Looking back I left a lot in the tank. I felt I could have done 1:35-1:38

Why do you feel compelled to run this many miles per week?
I don't think you'll find any legitimate expert that will tell you this is healthy.

almost every damn time I run. I average about 30 a week. I'll run 11 tomorrow and know I won't feel comfortable until mile 4.

I've gotten better about warming up. Purposely going slow the first mile and a half... But it is hard not to just go out running.

Ruling 7 miles is not "unhealthy" at all. I'm not super fit and I could easily run 7 miles every day. I don't because I mix in other stuff. But usually ~4 times a week I run 5 to 7 miles (5 mile days are usually interval training and actually tougher than 7 mile days). If I wasn't doing other things I'd run every day. It's actually the easiest out of running, swimming, and cycling for me to knock out and not interrupt my day too much.

Me too...but that doesn't make it healthy

Running 50 miles a week is 2500 miles a year.

Running is great exercise, but that is a helluva lot of mileage.

I'm not a fitness guru, but running that much, over a period of years, probably does more harm than good.

There is no evidence of it being harmful. As long as you take care of your body, you should be fine. Eating healthy and doing core/body weight exercises or yoga are very beneficial to keeping things intact.

How is it unhealthy? You can say joint issues maybe, but I would say bro's hitting the weights at the gym are putting just as much stress on their joints. The human body is made to run long distances. Just because most people are out of shape and think 5k is a huge accomplishment, doesn't mean that 7 miles is "too much".

Like I said, I'm not sure. That's a lot more than I run.

Fwiw, I have used your sig quote and gotten some laughs.

It's great while it lasts!
It's addictive for sure. Fishing is as addictive.

Guys that run like that, they don't do much else, fishing included.

Eh, that is normal. It sometimes takes a little bit to get going in a run. I find that leg swings are my favorite dynamic stretch in terms of loosening me up. The best advice in here is probably just a couple minutes of dynamics and then go run.

Also, there is very little joint impact associated with weight lifting

While your post contradicts tke swamprat and agrees w/ mine, I still like his sig.

Been running 3 years. I'm a moderate runner, run about 10-15 miles a week. I get real bored after 30 minutes.

But, I have the exact problem as the op except for me its almost exactly .75 miles, every time I run. I warm up, but never tried dynamic stretching.

Just went from a neutral 7 mm drop shoe to a neutral 3 mm drop shoe. Worse start. So going to try a 9 mm drop neutral.
