I'm on a well and suddenly my water pressure was much higher than I'm used to, so I went and checked the well and sure enough the pump is running continuously.

What is the likely cause of the problem?

I need to replace my gauge, as it's ready zero regardless of how much pressure there actually is.

You have a minimum and maximum water regulation booster pump that keeps your well water pressure to what you set it at.

Call a well water specialist, most plumbers aren't trained in Well functionality.

That's what I'm assuming is the issue... do they go bad often? Mine is about 5 years old now.

pressure switch is stuck, replace it. but for now, rap on it with a screwdriver, if the contacts just got stuck it may work fine for a while. but you still need to replace it.

its mounted onto the pump and has a small plastic tube running to it to sense the water pressure. its as easy to change as replacing a light switch. just be sure to turn off the power and release all water pressure before you start disconnecting it.

Good chance some ants got inside the contacts on the pressure switch. Water pressure dropped, contacts energized, and fried their asses but made the contacts stick. I've seen this on A/C contacts too. When it rains, they like to climb up in shite to find a dry spot.

I just beat it and it stopped... Gonna replace it anyway, but it's working now. Thanks.
