My 8 year old scrambles her own eggs.
At some point, we’re all too big for the nest.

12 was when me and my siblings would be the age where we stayed by ourselves.

If the mom is this controlling she will probably be a slut.

It depends on maturity, but I let my 8 (almost 9) year old stay at home alone for extended periods of time. I don’t think it’s ever been two hours, but I wouldn’t have a problem with that. He has the ability to call us, and we know our neighbors, so he could get help quickly if he really needed it. I was staying home alone at his age, and I lived out in the middle of nowhere.
What is the mom worried is going to happen?

We just let my son house/dog sit for the first time overnight at 16. We haven’t left them home alone even though they both have cell phones and my oldest drives.
This was in a pretty rural town for him doing that I was staying by myself when I was 16 and my sister was 18. But I also grew up in the country.
We live in a downtown so I’m not that keen on it. 99.99999% of the time nothing bad ever happens but we have our share of crackheads and vagrants walking the streets.
ETA: we’ve let them stay home by themselves for extended hours while we’re out of town but not overnight.

12 for all four of my children.

My child is 12 and just stayed home all summer alone. We do have cameras outdoors completely covering the house though

My girls all at 13 ... my boy, I never really allowed him to stay home by himself because, first of all, all of his sisters were between 12-16 years older than him (so they could run interference) and, secondly, because by the time he was 15 or so and his sisters were away I couldn't trust him not to try to bring home these little country gals his age to tap them.
The local gals corrupted him early ... he went to his first HS prom his freshman year with a senior and that was that. I had to watch his arse. He would have turned my home into a brothel.
He's a good kid though, great kid actually.

9-11 year old for small errands… maybe an hour at most. a lot of trust in them and the neighborhood.

9 year old girl and we will leave her alone for about 1.5 hours or so occasionally. Will work up for more. Have cameras at door and she is very cautious. One of my main jobs is to make sure she can eventually survive without me, so we are working towards independence slowly. I have too many cousins living at home in their 40s who never leave.

I was 10 when I started babysitting (real babies sleeping in a crib/bottles/diapers, etc) This was early 80's. I was a 70 year old trapped in a 10 year old body, tho.. a new puzzle would have been a wild evening for me.
Flash forward to to present day: We just left our 15yr old son at home for two days/over night for the first time and it did not go well. No parties at house, but some very serious shite went down at 3am outside of home. It could have happened while we were there, but we will never know. He cannot be trusted, perhaps ever.

Prolly 4 weeks, maybe 5, but I knew they had the foresight at that time.

My daughter is 10, and really mature for her age. I've started leaving her if I have a quick errand and she doesn't want to go. I'm talking 15-20 minutes tops. My neighbors work from home and all of her grandparents are 5 minutes away, so there's backup in the event I get in a wreck and can't get right back or something. I'm thinking next school year I'll feel okay about leaving her and her sister at home if I have to leave for a meeting or something. Currently I'll bring them to their grandparents after school if needed.

Mom is worried about her daughter being a slut. I remember girls wanting to be diddled by some of the neighborhood kids when they were left at home at 13 or 14. Glad I was able to assist.
