stupid software development shite.
we use it here. scrum is a methodology to quickly test/qa & build code as opposed to old school 'code for 47 days and then deploy'
you code little giblets, you have daily 'scrum' sessions to see how much progress has been made, and qa gets to test the code changes in that sprint.
also look up 'agile methodology'

Micromangement way to develop a soft ware system. Sprints can be a set of detailed tasks scheduled in short time periods to accurately track and document progress and stuff. We used it in my old job for developing and implementing a moderately complex database. It was very valuable when working with an incompetent client (DoD) and developers who can code like hell but cant talk to another human to save their life.
ETA-Poster above me described it perfectly.

got it...I think
so I need a stress tester, a QA Tester and now a Scrum Master
frick all
<----zero software experience in a software development world

You'll learn, it is more about implementing process rigidity and traceability than any software nerdiness. I'm by no means a software guy, but got it down pat rather quickly

that would be me to a tee

hopefully, that's the case

bingo
thank you, just convinced me to approve this budget

It's like this. So you're building a car. Does it make more sense to put the whole thing together and test it once? Or does it make sense to design the chassis, then test. Wheel system, then test. Engine then test. Etc.
Of course, you could break that down into smaller and smaller chunks with the benefit of being able to test all of those independently at the same time.
It shortens workflow.
A scrum master just says what you'll be working on that day. No different than a project manager.

Not correct. A scrum master manages the scrum process and makes sure the rules are being adhered to. Nothing to do with assigning tasks or priorities at all.

Depending on the size of your company/department, this is probably not a full-time job...
one of your product managers or program managers could become your scrum master with the appropriate training.
Also, my experience is that QA (especially regression testing) goes to hell in a handbasket when Agile is implemented.

less than 5
we're basically outsourcing 90% of the workload to a company that specializes in this sort of shite

they're proposing about 4-6 hours per week
