Those things are a joke. Even if you can get the hook under the suture, the blades don't approximate to cut it. Cuticle scissors OTOH do it lickety split.

They make special scissors to remove stitches. Call your doctor and get a pair. Otherwise, use wire snips

This. They sent me home with one of these recently. It came with some little scissors, gauze, and tweezers. The tweezers were cheap and plastic though. None of it was great quality. But it was sterile and did the job.

Serious, if you can’t get a suture removal kit, go buy some decent tweezers and some small scissors at the local Walgreens/cvs.
