It's either oil or water/coolant. Blue smoke = oil. White smoke = water/coolant.

Both are bad.
This.

The usual few thousand over.

had a 2015 Nissan Maxima that did the same damn thing. Would do it maybe once every 3-4 months. Always checked the oil and wasn't losing any. I took it to three different mechanics and they could never get it to duplicate. That went on for about 4-5 years before I traded it in. No other issues so I don't know...

So you're telling me there's a chance.....

Pull the oil dipstick and look at the oil. Does it look like chocolate milk? If so you have coolant leaking internally in the oil system. Usually a head or intake manifold gasket.

Turbos generate a tremendous amount of heat and they are hard on oil. Change your oil more often. You can’t mistreat a turbo car. It will break.

Oil looks fine. It was the first thing I checked.

That’s a good thing so far. Can you pull a spark plug or two and see if there is white deposits on the electrode?

Also, is this just on cold start up or continually after start.

Unacceptable on a turbo.

It'll clog the upstream filter/screens and starve em for oil.

Kill em quick.

The torque pro app with the Bluetooth obd2 adapter may give you your boost numbers from the turbo and you can look them up online and compare.

It was after start, at idle. Both times I noticed it, I was sitting in the carpool line at my kids school.

And no drips of water from the exhaust? I’m wondering if your catalytic converter is faulty? I know it sounds strange, but a faulty or plugged one can cause white smoke from the exhaust.

Looked at getting at the spark plugs, but I don't really have the capability at my house. I'll have to take it to my parent's house. Anytime I have to do anything I go there, he's got a shop.

I'm thinking it's probably something minor, because it doesn't do it all of the time. It wasn't doing it when I picked up my first kid, but it did it for a few seconds picking up my second kid.

I’m with you, hope it is something simple and a easy fix. Good luck with it.

I'd get it checked out but I still don't know what was wrong with mine. Drove fine, no codes, no burning oil. The first time it did it, I started it up and was sitting in it checking my email on my phone and when I looked up, it looked like I was sitting in a thick fog. Scared the shite out of me.

Took it to Nissan and two local mechanics I trust and no one could duplicate the issue. I just drove it and hoped for the best.

OP: Check your exhaust system for a potato obstruction.

Going a few thousand miles over an OCI with a turbo is not a good idea. You can get away with it on non turbo cars usually but turbo cars are hard on oil.

Need to make sure the smoke is actually white. If it is, check coolant level.

I honestly wouldn’t be overly concerned about it. Just keep an eye on the coolant level as well as the oil level and go on about your life.

White smoke means we have a Pope. Black smoke means another round of ballots.

90,000 miles, time for new spark plugs anyway so change them, do an oil change, replace air filter and do a coolant flush. All regular maintenance items that should be done anyway. Then keep an eye on it.
