OT Mechanics- car won't fire

It's a 2006 Pontiac, 122,000 miles. It sounds like it's out of gas when it starts, but there's gas in it. I tried jumping it, but nothing. It just won't fire. Any ideas on what's wrong? Costs to fix it? Wrecker is on its way to tow it to an automotive place.

It'll fire. Same steps as a Dodge truck.
1. Open gas cap.
2. Insert lit road flare.
3. Run away.

Not much cost if you do it yourself, but if the 06 Pontiacs are anything like the ones back in the 90's, the fuel filters are tough to get to. Might be frustrating.
Could also be the fuel pump if it "sounds like its out of gas". A full gas tank is as good as empty if the pump isn't pushing it out.

when you turn the key to the accessory setting, do you hear the fuel pump prime (a faint buzzing sound from outside the car). Also had a few chevy's that would say they had plenty of gas, but the fuel gauge had gone out and it was really empty.

Cost wont be to bad, on a 2006 the fuel filter is most likely attached directly to the pump, and both are probably in the fuel tank itself. So you may as well change both together. You will have to drop the fuel tank to access them.
Also there may be a relay that tells the fuel pump to turn on, check for that first, much cheaper and easier fix.

Does it make a whining sound after you stop turning the key? Kinda like a whistle? That might indicate a fuel pump. Esp if you say it has fuel in it.

Sounds like the source of your problem is plugs with maybe fuel pump and filter issue. Have you ever changed the plugs? Have you ever had a new fuel filter or pump?
Cost? probably no more than 700 if you get the parts yourself.

Never changed the plugs or fuel filter. My question is, at what price would you guys say screw it and just trade it in for a new car?

We have a 2000 Blazer we thought brand new and the fuel gauge on it must be on acid. You can never tell how much fuel is in it based in guage. We just fill it up, reset trip odometer and estimate fuel based on trip odometer and 15-20 mpg (4.3 vortech 4x4) based on who's driving it. Other than than that and having to charge the freon each summer, its given us 250k miles and other than routine maintenance, nothing major has gone out, sans the fuel gauge and fuel pump. Thanks howbi knew about the whistle as you put it. Love that little SUV for knocking around in.

In comparison my Mom bought a 2015 Mazda 6 last Fall when they first hit the lot and over the weekend the power sear on driver side fricked up and won't go back. Seems like the track on the door side is jammed byba coin or something. She taking it to dealership today to have them look since its under warranty.
Women can ruin a vehicle in months where a guy can drive one for 15+ years and have minimal trouble. Ugh.
Let me guess. Tl,Dr. I don't know why all you kids take this adderal if you can't read a few paragraphs.

Here's the deal. If you're not getting any fire, it's not the fuel pump or filter. If you not getting fire to the plugs, then it's not the plugs either. The car has multiple coils, more than likely, 3 if it's a v6. It's an issue with the electrical system.

Looks like that model doesn't have a separate filter (from the pump).
Did this issue start suddenly? Another possibility is water in the fuel.

I had a 2000 blazer and a 2001 S10 that both had the fuel gauge go out on both of them. Only major issue I ever had was the transmission went out of the blazer, and never acted right after that. I try to explain to my wife that it is not good to run the fuel tank below a quarter of a tank because 1) any deposits that have settle to the bottom of the tank are now being sent through the system and 2) the fuel is the lubricant for the fuel pump and no lubricant can cause them the fail prematurely and it ain't cheap to fix it. Never the less, I constantly get in the car and it has about 20 miles to before empty.
