Agreed. We have opposite opinions right now, but they are just that, OPINIONS
I don't have enough facts to form an opinion of my on. It appears to be a somewhat typical race track confrontation between 2 alpha males gone all wrong. No winners here. One dead, one forever changed.
I'm going to leave it at that for now.

I agree ... while smoking, slapping kids in the back seat and looking through a net and a wing.

He has raced enough to know at what point to expect the emergency crew and how much time he has to get his car whoaed down to pace car speed. 1/2 lap is far too soon for anyone to get on track.
Yeah but tony caused the wreck. He knew before everyone else that the caution was coming and therefore had probably already started slowing his car down. Not to mention the actual wreck itself had slowed the car some.

You expect a race car driver to voluntarily slow their car down before a flag? They aren't known for driving defensively on a race track. It seems to be discouraged by the fans for some reason.
The only thing outside what should be expected on a race track in this video seems to be the lunatic that is running around on the course during a race. It was only a matter of time before another lunatic runs into him.

The race track didn't show any flag prior to the incident? You have a link that supports this? Why were all the cars slowed down?

He is responding to Chrimsonsaint a Gordon fan and Alabama fan. Obviously not the brightest light bulb in the batch.

I'm not sure what you are talking about. The Road and Track article said that Stewart and the other cars were reducing their rate of speed because of a caution flag. I don't understand why one car is expected to slow down more than the others (which is what the poster I responded to seemed to suggest), especially considering that the entire goal of these events from the driver's perspective is to win the race....but mind you I'm not a regular race fan. Perhaps their ultimate goal is to come in last place.
I also found this bit interesting.

Emergency workers were there within seconds. Indeed, Stewart may have hit the gas, but you steer sprint cars with the throttle more than with the steering wheel. The idea that he accelerated trying to hit Ward is beyond the pale.
So, how do you prove that someone was negligent or (even more laughable) on a bent to commit murder with his car when it's standard practice to drive aggressively within the boundaries established by the rules and on the outer bounds of your skill level with just a minimum amount of control over what your vehicle is doing?
It honestly seems like a few people are being willfully irrational because they don't like this driver for whatever reason. A lunatic jumped out onto the racetrack and into the path of another car. I don't see how it would be possible to prove that the intial collision or the fatal secondary collision would be intentional.

Fred, any more news from the reconstruction of the wreck that the track was doing?

I'd have to imagine that this would be a process that could take days. Will be interesting to see what is learned from it though.

Nothing from that. Sheriff had a press conference that I heard part of. Was hoping to see a recap somewhere but haven't.
Summary of what I heard:
* Autopsy concluded that death was from blunt force trauma. Did not elaborate.
* No evidence of anything criminal
* There are two videos that are being reviewed and asking for any other videos that may be out there.
* Investigation is still open.
* No need to further interview Tony Stewart at this time.
* Stewart people have been in contact with his department and assisted in every way asked.
I don't know if that means that the second video came from Stewart's car or not.
Edited to add:
LINK to only story found on the press conference.

Was it confirmed that he had a GoPro mounted? Wonder if that footage will be released.

The sheriff said both videos were from spectators. He was asks about a go pro camera. He said he has no knowledge of one.

Stewart hit the accelerator, and swerved into the guy. With that said, lawyers will lie and state Stewart accidentally hit the guy. Stewart will pay the family millions to make it all go away, but that's all that will happen to Stewart.
You cannot tell that from the video
I wonder if we have audio evidence of Stewart talking to his crew when this happened?

Doubtful those hick go carts have a radio to communicate. Really doubtful they are recorded.
