all of you are forgetting that no road laws are prevalent on a sanctioned racetrack.By racing, you pretty much sign the right to your own life away in the paperwork. It is what it is.

It's a shame the guy is dead but he's gotta be up for the Darwin List.

That's true, but that's more of a release type deal for the track owners.

While he still could be charged (remember the pro hockey player), he won't be, IMO.

There was no gunning it IMO. I think that was the back wheel getting locked up for a sec from the guys body. I had a dog run out of no where under my truck one time and it did the same thing to the wheel. Stopped it completely for a second or two on that one wheel causing the truck to move like his car did.

Why spank? Ward was a fricking moron. Just because he died doing something incredibly stupid doesn't mean we shouldn't be able to acknowledge that it was in fact incredibly stupid.

And you seem like the type that will require me to state the following: This opinion does not mean I think he deserved to die or that I am happy about it.

People with a whole brain would too.

Mutt, couple more behind him crossed the road right there while I was stopped. They werent running though and definitly weren't hunting dogs so only thing I could come up with was they were after a dog in heat maybe.

Everyone in this thread does realize Tony Stewart is probably the 2nd best dirt track driver in the world ,right? If he wanted to buzz this dude or throw dirt on him he would have done just that. He did not see him until it was to late.Period.

I'm late to this party, but I have to agree with this

Stewart is known for his brashness and temper, evidenced through many events. That being said he's there for his love of the sport, to help grow it. I can't imagine him being willing to do something that could potentially damage it this badly. He is good enough a drive that if he wanted to intentionally buzz him, he would have. He simply didn't see him in time.

His death is sad, but it is of his own doing. stepping out of the safety of the car and intentionally walking into traffic on an unstable dirt track is asking to die.

Does common sense not exist anymore? It is a car race for God's sake, stay in the damn car until the yellow flag comes out. The guy got out of his vehicle with cars coming at him at very high speeds.... at night.

How could anyone think Stewart would intentionally kill a guy. Yes he has to live with it but it was a horrible accident.

No way they can prove any wrongdoing on Stewart's part...

I believe the caution dropped right after he hit the wall. I know by the time he got hit, they had all slowed down. Still should not exit the car though even under caution.

I didn't know the yellow was out, but this is my point.

I think Stewart is a bit of an arse but surely the man wouldn't intentionally try to hurt / kill someone.

Its a shame, and Im no lawyer but I bet the Stewart camp pays nothing. Getting out of the vehicle would be the defense's best argument IMO.
