I have no experience or expertise in this area, but:

Could you pay it directly to your daughter as a college fund, summer gift, etc so you know she's getting it. You're still paying in the mean time in an effort not to get caught on a technicality.

Did the state order the support come out of your check because you weren't paying at one time? Sounds like it.

Still doesn't need to go to court to terminate payments or garnishments. As long as you are current, all you have to do is file the notarized letter that was sent to the custodial parent. Oh, you need to send it certified mail with receipt of delivery also.

That attorney is just trying to make more money off of you.

Nope ex went to the child support services because she was moving out of state when we first got divorced. You know greener fields for her. This is when my oldest decided to stay with me but I was paying her for him.

frick you with that bullshite. This ain't got a god damn thing to do with caring for the child.

That knee-jerk cliche response to any man eager to stop "PAYING THE MOTHER" when the child turns 18 deserves every bit of a vulgar response.

Child-support is legally over at the age of 18. If you wish to continue to offer any financial support, give it directly to your daughter. Screw your ex-wife

Now you will get to directly give her the money for textbooks, tuition, and rent instead of the ex- which I'm sure will feel better.

Trust me I had to spend 4k to get my oldest son off of child support that I payed her for 6 years even though he did not even live with her he lived with me.

What state was this in? I don't get how you couldn't file something to discontinue the support or at least cut it in amount if the child lived with you for 6 years. How did it take 6 years to cut the support? Did you not file as soon as he started living with you?

By chance, have you ever seen your ex's car at your attorney's house?

Well that is my plan to give money straight to my daughter when she starts college in the fall. No more ex wife support. Two kids down one more to go.

Pay the money to your attorney and have him put it in his escrow account.

If the Judge awards it to her, your attorney can pay.

If you give it to her you will have to file a motion to get it from her.

If you pay it to your child, that is a gift, not child support. Paying the child does you no good, it solves nothing.

If your child support was based on three kids, your ex could receive the same amount until the last child leaves the house. (18 & graduates HS). In Louisiana its called "in globo". It depends on how your support papers were written. example:$2k per month for 4 children is "in globo". $500 per month per child, you may have a shot at getting it reduced. Good luck !
