I have 2 windows side by side one has a window unit in it, looking for some kind of blinds or curtain or some kind of idea to shade the room (preferably black it out) while keeping the window unit in place. And yes window units=trashy but I don't feel like adding a dedicated standalone for one room.

I am actually looking forward to seeing which posters have a grasp of artistic quality for interior decoration.

I just expect this place is a stacked milk crate, birch wall paneling, duck pictures, mounted fish, and antler crowd.

You forgot the cinder blocks and plywood.

To the OP: Look at blackout cellular shades.

Throw in some LSU memorabilia and you've described my house

We in the industry call this the peakaboo or the luscious labia. You may want to go with more of a French pleat in linen or cotton depending on you decor

Home Depot sells a Levolor product that can black out the window and is more in the style of a Roman shade. They have various styles. That will work for you.

My wife is in interior designer. Did not ask her but that is what she would suggest.

I'm gonna say you better clarify this with the wife. I know a lot of women interior designers and not one is going to buy or suggest to buy from Home Depot. They work with other people's money. The fabric has to be bought at P Tree and it has to be custom sewn.

She's sent non-paying clients there for their custom blinds. You have to order them. He qualifies as non-paying.

Yeah get those see through (from the inside) roller curtains that you see at Starbucks or other mod deco'd places (Room and Board, Design within Reach, etc)

Only problem is it might be too contemporary/industrial for most homes. I have them in my loft condo downtown and they look tight.

Why are you looking forward to that? Is that just a quality you look for in your bros?
