I used to love working out in the middle of the night.

If you're a morning person, am workouts are great. When I do them I eat granola bar or muffin on the way with my monster. (If I don't eat before I feel weak at the end of my workout)
morning workouts gets the day off on the right foot.

Evening work outs are great except it takes me a while to settle down after.

I'm not a morning person. I've tried working out in the AM. No fricking way.

Just depends on my work schedule. If I'm working a bunch of nights in a row...I get up in the afternoon and make sure I have enough time to workout before going back to work that night.
Off a few days...I'll try to knock out my workout first thing in the AM so I have the rest of the day to do whatever.

I work shift work so my workout times vary. I don't lift before work bc that would require being at the gym for 3:30. I never was very energetic for workouts in the morning back when I could go before work though. Strangely enough, my best workouts come after I work nights, wake up at noon and get to the gym at 1 pm. Usually have a great workout and lots of energy for the night shift.

I'm getting ready for the gym right now

I much prefer mornings and my gym is brutal after work so it makes the decision easier

I've been doing both, cardio in the morning and weights after work

I normally feel better/more active if I workout in the AM. But I take a pre-workout and hate being all jittery and constantly sweating throughout the day. My usual time is about 5:15-5:30 pm...just early enough to beat the "9-5 job" crowd.

I hit the gym at lunch everyday, 11:30-12:30.

I have kids so morning (when they are still sleeping) is really the only time I care to go. I eat a banana or half of a CLIF bar on the way to the gym. I workout for approximately 45 minutes, take a shower, and leave the gym around 5:30 am. I get home in time to help get the kids up and ready for school. The gym is way less crowded and you get to know the staff and other people at the gym if you want. On your way out, be sure to sneer at the slugs dragging themselves into the gym at 5:30.

You don't have a wife to take care of those kids ?

Get my workout done in the morning, so no matter what happens the rest of the day its done.

I was up at 4:40 this morning and in the pool at 5. Home in time to wake up the kids and spend some time with them before work. Have much more energy all day and nothing hanging over my head when I get off. I love it.

I've tried the AM workouts and there are a few benefits:
1) Empty
2) No one on any machines/benches because all the old folk are on the treadmills
3) Feels great knowing you're free after work
I would suggest doing it if you're normally up early, but I can't motivate myself to do it anymore.

Yeah I have lost the motivation to train seriously since being in the army. My training is the complete opposite of army pt. it became a chore and not fun anymore. But it looks line I'm getting out of active duty tommorrow.

PM, i get a much better work out.
But its usually AM and PM bc of PT in the morning.
