OT Car Experts: 2008 Buick dies every time I transition from reverse to drive

First, I drive low mileage "little old lady" Buicks as work cars.
I have a 2008 Lucerne that runs smooth as can be except when you transition from reverse to drive it conks out (but is easy to restart). It is annoying as hell and makes me want to take the car out to the wrecking yard. I can't "drive around it" (e.g. pushing the gas pedal down slightly to increase RPM as you put it in drive). With my vintage cars, I can usually change how I drive them to solve this type of issue.
The car has no other operational issues. It idles smoothly. It runs crisply.
Any suggestions as to what might cause this odd issue?

GM calls that a design feature.

Stop trying to put it in drive and go backwards.

Just back into your parking spots so you won't ever have to go from reverse to drive. You will always be going from Drive to reverse

Stop for 10 seconds at neutral.

Your car is racist and a homophobe. Who is it to judge you wanting to transition?

No backup cam in a 2008 Buick. He'd have to back into parking spots perfectly every time.

I wasn't suggesting my Lucerne is a "vintage" car. It is an old car.
This is a "vintage" cars:

You assumed correctly. I've never driven a car with a backup cam and am fully capable of backing into a parking space correctly (or parallel parking).

Probably carbon buildup in the throttle body, was a common occurrence…

Have you checked the oil level?
Oil pressure has a weird way of affecting some of what would be considered the most unrelated processes, even transmission performance.

I'm going to check that out tonight, and also replace the idle control valve.

I drive a lifted 99 Tahoe with no back up cam and have no problem backing in to places.
