Orionid meteors likely peak the morning of October 21
quote:

Orionid meteor shower will peak around mid-week, with the best morning likely being Wednesday, October 21. Try watching on the mornings of October 20 and 22, too. In 2020, the moon is a waxing crescent at the shower’s peak. It’ll set in the evening hours, before the constellation Orion – the radiant of the Orionid shower – rises in the east in late evening. The Orionids start producing meteors in late evening, but the number of meteors increases after midnight. Typically, the greatest number of Orionid meteors streak the sky during the few hours before dawn. In a moonless sky, you might see as many as 10 to 15 meteors per hour at the Orionids’ peak.

I used to look at the sky with curiosity, then I saw aliens. Was my first "space" film.

Never saw the sky the same afterwards.

When this guy cast his shadow in my peripheral, that was enough meteor watching for me tonight.

I saw about six of seven in a 20 minute span this morning. Pretty cool.

I was out with the telescope last week and there were a few popping off then.

Once upon a time, a bunch of my buddies decided to go on a fly fishing fishing trip up on the Utah/Wyoming border where we'd have to be on our 1 man inflatable pontoon boats on a big lake in the middle of the night. The Orionids were going off. I've never seen so many meteors in my life. It looked like the 4th of July. One of the coolest experiences I've ever had.

Why do these cosmic events always peak at like 2 in the morning?

I'm going to head to work early tomorrow. Usually a pretty good show once you get away from the city lights.

First time I saw this was when I was a kid going duck hunting down in Hopedale. Very few lights down there at the time. The Shower was unreal super cool. Was the best light show of a life time. I'm 63 now and still remember it like it was yesterday.

Second best light show is just spending a night offshore with a no moon night. Just so many stars that many people don't see do to city lights.
