We don't expect this to work perfectly all the time because there is no perfect solution, but it's working well enough so far for us. This is probably because, unlike most marriages these days, ours isn't based primarily on romance. Not that there isn't any romance, we just have many others reasons to be together besides infatuation and physical attraction (which inevitably fade). Anyway, what we are doing is certainly much better than suppressing desires or satisfying them in unhealthy ways (like porn addiction). It's also better than selfishly and stupidly hurting your spouse.
