OT during federal government shutdown in 2019 “Did these people not save enough money for two to three months? That’s their fault.”

No comment on the pros/cons of a shutdown, but the hypocrisy here kills me.
OT during federal government shutdown in 2019 “Did these people not save enough money for two to three months? That’s their fault.” OT during Covid19 shutdown “Govt employees are the worst and don’t know how this work and are killing the economy.”
On the up side, we should all get to see government size decreases come from this.
A bit of a silver lining.

If anything, this whole ordeal demonstrates that everyone sees a confirmation of their pre-existing beliefs in everything that happens.

The federal government was fighting between themselves and arguing on funding which caused them to shut down. This covid shut down was done by the federal government, but they didn't shut down themselves, they shut down working people who want/need to work to support their families. If you can't see the difference, than you're a dumbass.

Eh, I really don't care for it to start getting light at 4:30AM all summer long.

Personally, every single one I know is retired, housewife or still collecting 100% of their pay.
Perfect , they can continue to stay home without any impact to them.

So that is the main thing you've learned out of all this? I don't know where to begin. Truly Pathetic

Its like they don't realize that just because the shutdown hasn't affected them financially yet, the longer this drags on and worse the economy gets, the bigger the chance that their employer is going to start feeling the pinch and start having to furlough or lay off people.

Stay at home moms have been the worst.

quote:frick that. Daylight Savings Time should be year round. You can get so much more done around the house with an extra hour of daylight in the evening. And I don't want to have to get up at 3am to make it to the boat launch by daybreak if we were on standard time in the summer.
If this whole ordeal has taught us anything I think it's that we don't need Daylight Savings Time anymore. I've said it for years but this lockdown has really brought it to the forefront. Maybe it had it's reasons a century ago but lets move on.
Make year round Standard Time part of the new normal.

It's been disturbing to learn how many people can be so myopic as to think all of that can somehow exist indefinitely in some sort of weird vacuum.

I said this a while back, but that crowd is like the teenage girl who rolls her eyes when being lectured that money doesn't grow on trees. She then runs around town like the girl on "Clueless" with mom and dad's credit card buying more shite. That's how that crowd views the government right now. As though the money, bailouts, etc. are neverending and we can afford to stay locked in.
Posted on 4/27/20 at 10:43 am to prplhze2000
And what’s wrong with that??????

If you go by nurses' twitter posts, then the spread of corona virus is very well contained. How can they post so often when they are so busy saving lives?
The lock it all down teachers will change their tune if school boards continue the e-learning format into the '20-'21 school year and slash the number of teachers, principals, and support staff needed to bring their budgets in line with the cataclysmic decline in revenue. They might go from 22:1 student teacher ratio to 110:1.
The lock it down crowd are so myopic in their thinking.
