"Yes they can. My lord with the dramatics"

Pretty ridiculous how many DV you're getting. These threads show that the average OT'er is a poor and resents anyone who isn't.

Many cant. I am not defending the why they make less than enough, but wages havent even thought of keeping up with inflation. Hard to make an argument concerning historic COL increases and tell folks they should be doing fine on the same amount of income.

One of the most depressing things...

This depresses you? I mean, is it really that depressing?

I got news for you. The gig economy will eventually take over everything. I don't know what you do for a living, but assuming it's some kind of white-collar design job, I can probably hire someone in Bangladesh on Fiverr to do it for $20.

I guess THAT's kind of depressing.

A couple of the teachers I work with do this all summer. I'm currently 8 years, 9 months and 4 days from retirement. I'm not opposed to doing this after I retire to supplement my pension when I'm not guiding.

Not at all accurate, but you can easily see that the wages in full time jobs for the unskilled are low considering the cost of living. Hell, I employ 9 people, my payroll has gone up to about 8k a week versus 6500 a couple years ago to keep folks pretty whole and able to work one job and be available. They were getting side hustles all over the place interfering with ability to take extra shifts or weekend work.

That shite costs money -a lot of money - to learn these days.

I know with auto repair most dealerships will pay to send you to all their brand specific classes to learn all their systems, vehicles, etc. My brother works at a tech at a local dealership in an ACed shop for about 6 or 7 years now, makes easily $80k+/year. They started him out doing oil changes, simple services, and pre-delivery inspections, fly him out all over the country a couple times a year for new classes and certifications. The barrier for entry into some of these jobs is easier than most would expect.

I’m doing Uber and Lyft until I start classes. Using the extra money to pay for the trip to Vegas. Instead of sitting on my arse waiting for classes to start next week I’m making a few extra bucks. I could never do it full time though.

Exactly. I don't understand shaming people for doing gig work. You can either sit on the couch and complain how little money you have, or go out, work hard, and do something about it.

Living in New Orleans, I would bet that almost half if not more than half of the uber drivers are driving full time. I almost don't get surprised anymore when they say they'll be driving all night, or that that have been going all day.

The Federal Reserve, US Treasury, and Congress have literally

BROKEN OUR MONEY

When the price of things go up it's actually because our dollar is becoming worthless

multiple crap jobs are symptom, not the problem

Yeah because every single American wanted inflation to double their bills over the last 4 years right?

Maybe they should have studied harder in school. Then either gone into a trade or if they went to college, get a degree in a field with job opportunities. Many of those uber drivers are probably aspiring artists who got a $250,000 degree in fine arts or theater. Or maybe even one of those gender studies programs.

Me neither.

We should shame people for working in corporate environments.

Here’s a novel idea…. Keep working your way up the income food chain. If you expect to stay in the same job, in the same role and have your income keep up with COL, you’re going to be disappointed. I expect nothing less from the same people who think they should be able to afford a home by working as a barista at Starbucks

great. So your position is they shouldn’t be trying to make money? This thread wasn’t about Uber drivers bitching about income. It was bitching about Uber drivers

I’m older 58. My sister who is retired does Spark delivery as a side hustle. She made $75 in less than two hours last night on three local deliveries. I just went to Colorado with my son and we used a car rented service called Turo. You rent from individuals ,it was $240 (4 days)for a SUV rental I might would try that
