re: One "normal" thing you'll never allow your kids to do. Defend your position.

No sleepovers at any other kid’s house and no sleepovers at ours. Too many opportunities for things to occur that can’t be corrected.

If only they made phones that weren’t smart phones

because of smartphones - so maybe he has a point
My kids did not need smart phones until college - my 15 year old has one bc we don’t have a landline anymore and he’s home with younger siblings and my mom in the afternoons
your kid also needs one because its normal for a 15 even 12/13/14 to want to talk on the phone to girls and friends.
and yea kids dont socialize as much anymore somewhat because of smartphones but i would say the phones help more than they hurt.
there is certainly a happy medium....saying kids need to socialize less and not have internet access until college is dumb as frick and puts the kid way way behind
not to mention not even possible since homework is almost exclusively on the internet through the portals now. Saying things like that makes people sound dumb AF

have you been to LSU lately?
yea because anti social people send their kids their.
so many of yall are setting your kids up for failure being rigid AF.

and its funny the parents saying this are the same parents that had beepers in middle school who went home and put on 2 live crew and 2pac, logged onto AOL chat rooms and would chat with girls across the world all in middle school

every single thing is on the internet now

communication from coach- requires an app

My uncle has 9 kids. All home schooled. They are the best raised and most well rounded kids I have ever met. Oldest is going to college this year.
They never played any sports.
Sports!
The American obsession with sports is truly fascinating. They work on the ranch and they do normal kid activities like hiking, fishing, swimming. Sports are not that important.

These dudes have been in uptown Dallas too long, they don’t understand what the real world is like anymore.

Playing sports is also a normal kid activity.
What the hell is going on this thread?

You can access group me online. You don’t even need a phone. You certainly don’t need a smart phone.
My kids will go to a private school where I would assume most other parents aren’t going to be tech weirdos like you. If they are I will send them to boarding school.
If it seriously comes between having an iPhone and playing sports, then sorry, no sports.

I am sure kids can play sports without an iPhone.

You are too poor to go skiing but you are going to send your kids to boarding school?

Limited in social skills because they didn’t play sports? Not sure I see the correlation. They have 8 other siblings, they go to meet ups with other traditional Catholic homeschool families.
All the young rich Dallas and San Antonio cousins of theirs are jealous of them cause they get to grow up on a ranch
