You can access group me online. You don’t even need a phone. You certainly don’t need a smart phone.
My kids will go to a private school where I would assume most other parents aren’t going to be tech weirdos like you. If they are I will send them to boarding school.
mine go to private schools and im anything but a tech weirdo. my kids were the last in the peer group to get them. im telling yall from a parent that said the same shite as yall a decade ago.....you might want to not be so rigid in your thinking. a decade from now things will have changed even more.

If it seriously comes between having an iPhone and playing sports, then sorry, no sports.
in high school they are going to need a smart phone sports or no sports are you are setting your kid up to be the social outcast.
what is so hard about being able to monitor and limit usage of a smart phone? why are you so rigid?

Good luck to you
judging by your posts on here, I'm not sure you are going to have to worry about any of this for a long time, if ever

Limited in social skills because they didn’t play sports? Not sure I see the correlation. They have 8 other siblings, they go to meet ups with other traditional Catholic homeschool families.
All the young rich Dallas and San Antonio cousins of theirs are jealous of them cause they get to grow up on a ranch
no most home school kids are weird AF, and as a catholic school family and devout catholic i will say the homeschooled catholic kids tend to be the ones that have the most issues socially ime.

yea dude has some weird arse views
makes sense though because he is weird AF so he thinks homeschooled kids that didnt get a phone until college are normal socially.

Why would they not be able to use group me on a computer? Can you explain this?

I actually think the all out ban on these things is quite lazy honestly
teach your kids how to responsible use tools of the world in which they live
I've made the comparison on teaching your kids how to handle guns before, but I think it applies to this topic

Well you can believe what you want. If you raised homeschooled kids do you think they would be weird or do you think you (as a cool person maybe?) would rub off on them?

They are better socially. They aren’t addicted to phone or TV. They don’t give a shite who Steph curry is.
It is absolutely fabulous. It’s like seeing Americans who grew up in another world without any of the retarded Bs we have to deal with. I love it. The people under the age of 30 will make this country great again.

you dont know me but are sitting here saying im a techie weirdo
all because i said hey you might not want to be so rigid in your thinking because everything is online now and having a smart phone keeps them from being a social outkast
i didnt say...your kids need snap chat, instagram and need to have unrestricted access to everythign
not even close to what i said...but yet you called me a tech weirdo and get mad when people judge you.
oh and newsflash some kids like sports. the same kids are many times the leaders of school. we used to value leadership....and most places of employment still do....instead you value being a social pariah

I am sorry. I shouldn’t have directed it at you

100%
but ole justice equates having a smart phone to being addicted to tech and screen time.
and if you play sports....its bad too.
cant win with some people
oh and justice...if i holed myself off on a ranch and homeschooled my kids with no internet....yea they would turn out weird AF who cant deal with normal society
all homeschooling isnt bad, cutting your kids off from sports, the internet and basic society around them=socially awkward kids

Honestly the only sports I would even want my kids playing are lacrosse, golf, tennis, or baseball.
Baseball seems like a no go with the travel ball culture but I’m not sure why a homeschooled kid would need to go to public school for any of the other ones. For tennis you need a private coach. Same with golf. Lacrosse is mostly not school teams but club teams around here anyways.

you can...but do they have access to the computer at all times? so when the daily schedule pivots suddenly they are missing practice or an hour late.

They are not holed up on a ranch. They own a ranch and rent a house in a big city where they send them to local Catholic homeschool groups

You act like kids aren’t human beings with any agency. But I’d just worry about losing my V card first if I were you

Not allowing your kid to consume the type of entertainment they want strictly because you don’t like it is a new level of insecurity.
What is the reasoning? Just bc you think it’s “weird”

“Like every parent OP will fold quickly”
That happens far too often and any parent understands how it can happen. But some things are worth demanding of the ones you love more than life itself. I’m not talking about any particular subject and I know nothing about Pokémon and other stuff like that.
Just a quick question hoping not to derail the thread…did anybody else have parents that would not fold on just about anything?
