Multiple gunmen opened fire in a large crowd during a trail ride event. One person was fatally shot and at least two others were wounded.

Multiple comments about this on Facebook feed last night from people stating this is why they don’t go to trail rides anymore.

Because they are scared of getting shot? Is this not an isolated incident or something?

Need to know the race of the shooters and those that are killed before I am told if I should care.

Yes, this was a trail ride organized and attended by the AA community, if the Facebook comments were accurate. There is a lot of small community loyalty, and sometimes they have beef. I don’t know if that’s what happened here, I’m just passing that along.

Forgive me, but I’m a NLA bro, not a SLA baw. Perhaps you could fill me in(that’s what she said) on what exactly a “trail ride event” entails? Other than the murder, of course.

Without more info I’d guess they were getting close to somebody’s weed lot, or still, or drug lab.

Riding horses or in wagons and drinking a lot.

One of my black friends quit going to them because they’ve been “modernized” with dudes trying to stunt in pickup trucks or on 4-wheelers. Most of them just want to ride their horses.

This, I see it every so often in Tangi venturing north of Natalbany. I know a few people who enjoy it.

It's not fun when they leave massive piles of horse shite in the middle of the road though. Sometimes its unavoidable with those narrow country roads when I visit my parents.

Trail Rides have become increasingly popular in the black community in South Louisiana. Specifically rural black communities. From Lafayette to Greensburg and parts of Mississippi you can find trail rides.

People will ride horseback and or some sort of powered 4 wheel vehicle on a ride through the woods in some isolated predetermined area.

After the ride then there is a party with food, drinks and music.
