I heard of that when I was in HS.

When I see someone with their lights off I auto flash them and immediately pull out my gat and wait.
Never had anyone come at me bro last 20 years though.
Not a lot of gang bangers in my neck of the woods i suppose.

Couldn't they just have lynched a few like they normally did or some BS

The sheriff had locked down the jail, and disconnected its elevator. The Natl Guard was called in and on alert

Black leaders spoke to the sheriff and were assured there would be no lynching. When they returned to Greenwood they were called liars, and had guns pointed at them. Blacks then loaded up and went to the courthouse

On the morning of the riot, a white man was killed on the white side of the railroad tracks by a sniper.

Thats when all hell broke loose

I'd be willing to believe the story was fabricated just so the white people could have a reason to kill more black people

Or all of the facts of who actually caused it intentionally overlooked and muddled so years later white guilt could continue to be pushed

With how fricked up the country was back then. White people were the thugs back then. They could commit heinous crimes back then and just get away with it. So excuse me for not siding with the thugs

People need to quit depending on Wiki for their facts

There is a 1929 lawsuit filed by a white man named Redfearn against his insurance company for claims of $19,000 of businesses burned in the Greenwood riots. He lost

All the details are there, and fresher than a Wiki article written 75 years later

Interesting. Thanks for the post.

I agree. I've never once heard of this incident, and I'm very interested in history, so much so that my when my daughter was 5, she'd come into the den, I'd be watching TV, and she'd say "UUUHHH, dad watchin da war again".

Your post got the predictable "CSB's/so what's", but again, thanks for posting this.

and even more interesting that "6000 people were arrested and detained"

right. by WHO? do you realize how many cops, national guard etc it would take to arrest 60 people? much less 6000. no way i believe it. not with riots and the other crap going on.

now 6000 held by a mob? maybe.
