My family comes from the border regions of Scotland and England, the areas most affected by Norse violence. Hell, even in my appearance, you can see the tell-tale genetic markers of fair skin, hair, and eyes. This centuries long systemic invasion should not be ignored or forgotten; the transgressions of the Scandinavian people are too numerous to be relegated to history.

I’ve always thought Harold Godwinson was a bit unlucky. He’d be remembered today as one of the greatest kings of England if the Battle of Hastings had gone differently.
He was a popular and respected king that was very close to repelling two foreign invasions of England in less than a month.

I'll let someone with more linguistic knowledge correct me, but as far as I am aware, pretty much all Britonic/Brythonic/Celtic influence on the English language has been lost. Almost every single "simple" word is Germanic in origin, though as you've said, that predates the Norse invasions by quite a bit.

Depends on what part of Britain, I think. The Welsh are still, well, Welsh. The closer to the North Sea you get, the greater the distribution of various Germanic haplotypes.

There is probably some, but I would defer to a Celtic pro on that cause I really don’t don’t either. I do know where the Norse influence really shines is grammar. Norwegian/Dane sentence structure, for the most part, is very similar to ours. While just basic German or Dutch has subject/verb agreements way different for the most part.
When the light bulb really goes off is when you actually can make out the words when somebody speaks Norwegian. It goes from klingon to just archaic English words we don’t really use, but can understand with context.
