Chris-Craft Cadillac produced the landing craft for D-Day

Quotes:
"a Chris-Craft was the first boat to reach the shore during the D-Day invasion of Normandy"

The men and women who worked at Chris-Craft plants during World War II helped build the boat "that won the war."

In a book titled, "Building Chris-Craft," Smith stated that Chris-Craft was able to change some of the specifications of the Higgins LCVP they were contracted to build. "When we got the contract to build them, we were able to improve the boat considerably," he said. "We changed the bottom design from propellers in tunnels to exterior propellers on a flat bottom. The change allowed the boats to ride higher, reduced construction time and saved the government a lot of money."

"I owe my life to the good fortune of being in a Chris-Craft landing craft under heavy fire," the unidentified veteran said. "All my buddies in the Higgins boats got hung up in deep water, where many of the guys were either shot or drowned."

All I've ever heard about was the Higgins boats, and how they won the war. Now, we've got folks essentially saying it wasn't us, and that our boats were essentially death traps....

I thought one of the biggest contributions by Higgins was the transmission for the landing craft. Maybe I'm wrong, though.

Even the opposing tyrant, the German führer, mentioned Higgins, by name.

It says the Chris-craft was a type of Higgins boat. They contracted out their construction to some other companies.

Yeah, it pissed me off, too. Of course, there was no place for comments or retort... freaking media is a joke.
