On Christmas, let's not forget those who have and are still serving...

Still a ton of service members out there serving and spending Christmas...on watch.
Let's not forget their service and sacrifice. Politics aside, these men and women should not be forgotten. Nor should the ones we've lost along the way.

It's amazing how the people around you can make a shite situation not so bad. I remember one Christmas on deployment where I was having a shitty day. One of my buddies who looked kinda like Hermey the elf from Rudolph walked up to me wearing a Santa hat and said "I don't want to be an elf anymore... I want to be a dentist" and I couldn't stop laughing.
Every year the same guy posts that same quote on my FB and it brings back good memories.

both of you guys are being assholes...being deployed during times when families are spending tons of time together sucks arse and sometimes I feel like it should be remembered not only on the "obligatory" holidays but when they wish they could be home...or are missed by their loved ones.......also know that these type of holidays are tough on those who have lost people that will never come home...don't like the thread....then move along

They know the possibility of being away from home on the holidays when they sign up.
I am thankful for those that serve but let's not act like anyone that has signed up since 9/11 isn't fully aware of what that job entails.
Like 13 said, how about you celebrate the holidays the way you want to and quit telling others how they should celebrate through a quilt trip.

Look, you can call me whatever you like but I don't need holidays or someone to remind me to remember my brothers. If people need reminders, it isn't genuine imo. Posts like yours scream attention.
