You can't travel to Africa and not come back with a fever, sounds like the dude is trying to beat a DUI charge.

It's the sensationalism. People are going to get freaked out by everyday occurences.

Only ~4000 people have died from Ebola in 6 months in Africa and they are walking around in shite filled slums.

Look the CDC should be concerned, because this is their job. The average american citizen should sit tight and freak out at the right time.

I work in a hospital, so it's on my radar now. All you need is one viable case to introduce it, and it could run amok.
In today's Advocate, there is a story about how they have the patient's (the guy in Dallas who brought it in) family under armed lockdown now, because they were refusing to comply with the quarantine orders. People whining about being inconvienced.
It's stupid-arse people like this that can/will spread Ebola (or anything else). You know you're a risk, but too ignorant/selfish to care.

The US should cancel Halloween this year. All these kids and dirty people going door to door rubbing knobs and elbows and eating each others virus candies. Nov. 3rd is going to forever known as Breakout Day. We may not see Christmas as a civilization.

that's nothing. there's at least 1.4 million people on the OT today who have just assured me that 1.4 million africans with ebola won't affect the US
murika! we ain't skeered.

Read the article. It's the family in Dallas the guy was visiting.
quote:
The confinement order, which also bans visitors, was imposed after the family failed to comply with a request to stay home, according to Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins. Texas State Health Commissioner David Lakey said the order would ensure Troh, her 13-year-old son and two nephews can be closely monitored for signs of the disease.
quote:
Louise Troh said Thursday that she is tired of being locked up
quote:
“No one thinks this will happen,” she said in an interview with The Associated Press. She said she and her family are “stressed” about being confined to their home.
“Who wants to be locked up?” she said. Private security guards and sheriff’s deputies blocked the entrance to the 300-unit apartment complex to dozens of reporters.
So- you have been potentially exposed to Ebola to the point that the CDC says you should be quarantined, and you refuse to comply. That's just peachy.
Remember, the initial signs are relatively mild; and the virus is spread by body fluids including sweat.
Wonder if the kids hang out with their buddies, maybe play a little basketball etc? Maybe the woman goes to a supermarket and handles produce?
Remember also, the patient in question was already sick with it when he came into the hospital, so he was able to spread it. Does anyone really think that his family came into absolutely no contact with him once he became contagious, but before he was diagnosed?
