Pretty sure his girlfriend already knew about the cheating, which is why it's been the "worst week of his life." He isn't just admitting it on global TV coverage like some are acting here.
Doesn't make it much better, but she's not just finding out about this. He's trying a last-ditch effort to smooth things over AFTER he's already been caught. Men everywhere recognize this ploy
