The crime of violating local law by shooting a sign?
Consequence is to pay a fine and maybe some community service.
For the potential crime of violating federal law by defacing a monument that holds historic and racial significance?
Consequence is to be excommunicated by others whose reputation you may damage by association including but not limited to the University and fraternity you claim which may in turn negatively affect the career prospects you enjoy in the future.

Yes, I think doing something as egregious as this should follow them for most of their life. Whether it be formal or informal they are going to be sanctioned in some sort of way, and deservedly so. At the very worst they will have to explain that picture and their actions to any future employer.

I think these idiots are flaunting the death of a 14 year old boy! he was black at a time where that was damn near a crime. what these guys should be made to do is to be forced to take a job (or activity) that forces them to enteract with black people on a daily basis. better than any "sensitivity course". they will soon learn that there are some great black folk and our racial differences are mostly superficial. Honestly I don’t understand how OM could do anything to KA over this. It wasn’t posted on their fraternity website, they aren’t wearing fraternity labeled shirts, it was in no way promoted or affiliated with KA.
The dumbasses just so happened to be in KA. If having 3 dumbasses do dumbass shite, OFF campus, is enough to punish a chapter, there wouldn’t even be a fraternity on the planet. I guess thats the goal of the left now, though.

Wasn't really what I was saying.
I'm saying there is still an attitude of "LOL racism" to some extent on southern campuses (and I'm sure in other regions and places) such that these kids knew they'd get some attention for it.
It has nothing to do with hurting black people (even though it does, in a way) and everything to do with immature college kids trying to get the lulz. That said, if you go to Ole Miss and you're a white kid doing shite like this, don't expect anyone to dive into the nuances of whether you're a genuine racist or not.

You know that black parents can feel the same way about their kids dating outside their race than white parents right? Racism will never end unless both sides are held accountable.

You seem to be taking this really personally.
I'm white and I don't feel any personal connection with these kids. I've never done something stupid like that, and if I did, the only person to blame would be in the mirror.
College and a career aren't rights, they're privileges, and you can lose them over bad decisions. These kids may learn that lesson.

The whole the south is where the racist live shite is also ridiculous. Go up north and they are segregated...blacks in the inner city and whites in the suburbs. My BIL from Chicago has been in BR for 20 years now and has said many times he hardly ever interacted with black people growing up unless he went into the city.

Sure, it was an extreme example of someone born in 1980 having a kid at 21.
Just to point out that we are getting to be more than 1 generation completely removed from Civil Rights Era. Kids born in the mid-70's don't remember anything prior to 1980 either.
